Insurance question - to inform or not...
Discussion
When I took out my insurance I told them that one of my cars would be kept in the garage. I've had a new sofa delivered so I have to store the old one in the garage for a couple of weeks before selling it on. This means that the car is temporarily outside with the others.
The question is: do I tell the insurance company about this? Will they be reasonable about the use of my garage?
My bike insurers told me that if my bike is at my home address between 22:00 and 06:00 it must be in the garage, however the car insurance bods are less definite about their requirements. I don't want to risk asking them as every time I call my insurers my premium goes up.
Advice please...

Been down this very road.I was arguing this with my insurer as i worked unsocial hours. They stated,"on average" your vehicle, if declared garaged must be in the garage at night. However they never stated what they called average!I dare say had the vehicle been stolen off my drive in the middle of the night they would have found some way of not paying out.

I'd tell them your car's going to be left outside if I were you. I had a situation recently where one of my garage doors broke and I couldn't get the car in for a couple of days. A quick phone call to let them know it was going to be left out, and another to let them know it was back in again, and that was it.
Unless your car's on a classic policy, that is. Some of them stipulate that the car must be garaged. In which case, let the sofa get wet.
