I've googled this and can't seem to find the definitive answer.

I own 2 house outright, PPR and a BTL, I'm married an my wife is not on the deeds (lots of resons)

We are thinking about moving and it appears that as I am selling and buying a PPR I wont pay the 3% extra SDLT. (using the .Gov SDLT calculator)

Is this correct?

TIA

Mike

Where's the "gifting" in this? Are you selling one place or both?

You should google for the PPR rollover relief from SDLT surcharge and note the time limit within which the new place needs to be bought.

I had a look at the SDLT calculation page in between starting and finishing.

The secondary Gifting question was going to be, if the 3% applies it might be cheaper to gift the BTL to my wife

It is few years ago but on SDLT (please check), if the property had NO mortgage and no money/value was being offered back, then their was no stamp duty to pay.
Taking on a mortgage will ( or did at least) mean SDLT was payable.

No SDLT surcharge when replacing a PRR within time limits.
