Struggling to pay capital gain on scond property sale

Hi everybody
Trying to pay capital gains tax on a second home sale. Filled in the online calculator, all fine, then tried to pay on line. Created a gov gateway ref. Then told to create a gate way for property. Think l managed the but cannot get into it. Tried calling Gov help line but no success in getting through
Is it possible to make a full application and pay by cheque ?

All electronic I'm afraid - and you've probably calculated the liability incorrectly too.

To be fair to you, it's almost impossible to calculate CGT accurately when you are doing it part way through a tax year.

It's an inherent flaw in the on-line file and pay system.
