Am I going nuts, was I being unreasonable to question this?

I'm starting to think my misses is off her rocker,honestly.
Imagine this scenario,you are about to move house and for the last few months you have been putting spare money in a jar for little emergencies that might crop up.
I'm sitting watching tv and she just blurts out,"have you been taking money out of that jar"???
Now i instantly went on the defensive,why are you asking that?,you must have an idea how much was in it,then you've recently checked it and it's a lower amount than it was previously??
She went of her nut!Saying i can't ask you anything??(like i was being awkward,argumentative)Can't i ask a simple question she says?Well not a massively loaded one then not realise you've just asked a massively loaded question,no!
She's in a huff now for crying out loud,women!

Schoolboy error.Solution: pause / switch off TV so that you can show you are paying attention.
Ask her to clarify the left field question.
Answer truthfully.
"Yes I took £20 out last week for some petrol - but also put in £60 the week before"

Well what else was i going to say,yes love took 50 quid out and got pissed,and incidentally i wasn't angry.I found it a provocotive question coming from someone that obviously thought i was on the take lol.Hmmmm …. Guilty

She was right not to trust you then...If this situation was flipped the other way around and i knew how much was in the jar,and was in the habit of checking it(which i don't)and found it 20 quid short i wouldn't bother my arse about it,far less confront her in an accusatory fashion.
And incidentally she has already slipped into the 'other' personality! ;-)
