I'm not really a muso, but I do watch some random music related channels on Youtube. The algorithm has suddenly been pushing all sorts of videos from many channels reacting to this video by Ren, so I figured it must be worth a listen.

And so I did. Wow! Probably the most unusual track I've listened to for a long time. Insane talent. Literally. I don't see this guy mentioned in any threads on PH, so thought I'd start a thread and see what you guys think...

It’s the kind of thing I would have liked a lot as a kid.

Wouldn’t listen to it with old ears, but good to see there is interesting stuff going on.

Original, but not my cup of tea.

I do wish him well, though as it's always good to have something different breaking through (and using 10th note diads, as he does in the vid, is quite unusual outside jazz music)

It’s not even close to any genre I would typically listen to but I think it’s so well conceived and so well performed that I was more or less speechless. It’s not really the kind of things you listen to for enjoyment rather than to appreciate the experience.

Wow, just wow.

Not your easy listening by any account, but original and also had me speechless.

Powerful through its uniqueness and singularity. Not sure how I'd fare with a whole album mind.

Paused wish you were here to listen to it, went back to it 20 seconds later.

Been done lots of times before, it's nothing ground breaking.

I managed about the same, or however long it was until he started whooping, then went back to the NFL game

I bailed after what felt like about half an hour. Some interesting stuff but needs whatever the musical equivalent of an editor is.

Early Eminem with an acoustic guitar, basically.

The comments on that one are good, pointing out that the guy with the electric guitar isn't even plugged in half the time.

What bothers me about that is that it’s all tracked up but made to look like it’s only one person playing. Completely un-performable. I would love to see the logic session for it.

I'll be honest, I was waiting for some guitar histrionics albeit on a Spanish guitar and they never came.
No from me (not a genius).

I got a bit sucked in last night and enjoyed some of his live videos.

Particular the full band street busking with electric guitar.

Also quite like the walking vids where he makes good use to the different acoustics in each room.

Lots of little gimmicks but they are varied enough I think.
