Hi guys,

Looking at replacing the brake fluid on my cars and thought I'd invest in a better tool for the job, I currently have a hand held pump that was a cheap one from ebay and not very good. Seen some that attach to the reservoir and replace the old fluid with new as you bleed release the calliper nipples but looking for some first hand knowledge.

Cheers

Might be better in 'Suspension, brakes & tyres'.
e.g: www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=13...

Gunson eazy bleed. Uses the pressure from a spare tyre to force the fluid through the system, just release a brake nipple one at a time to get the dirty fluid out.

Be aware it requires a lower pressure than normal in a tyre, so reduce it to the correct number first before starting.

As above, only drama for me is that rarely but on some cars the caps provided for different reservoirs don't seal very well but it's been a great tool.

My experience with the Gunson was that the threaded cap was a rubbish fit with the neck of the reservoir and was always in danger of over popping off the thread, which then sprays brake fluid all round the engine bay..

I just use a large medical type syringe. Hook up the syringe to the bleed nipple with a bit of tube (heat around the nipple first because those bustard things love to snap...but heat seems to stop it), then simply crack open the bleeder and start pumping the brake while topping up the fluid.
Air can't feed back because the syringe just stops that happening.
Simple, cheap...it just works.

Sealey VS820 is an affordable pressure blender that is far superior to the Gunson thing, and cheaper generic copies are also available from about £30
