Used bigger car for people and dogs

I realised my other post was under used 4x4..after peoples advice I have widened the net to include MPV/SUV

Anyway after all the advice we decided to simply go on autotrader and filter on the following

SUV/MPV
£2-5000
2006 onwards
Petrol
4+ seats
Upto £295 tax

This gave me the following list ordered by the size..the Corolla is what we have now so I dont want anything too bog for my daughter to drive

If you had to bet your house on the top 3 most reliable, safe, nice to drive..which would they be... ( yes I know.. the impossible dream lol )

I have a L&K4x4 Yeti it has all the toys and drives very well its also been totally reliable.

My wife has a Yeti, which is a really nice car to drive, but is slightly too small for me, otherwise I’d have one too. I have an Outback, which is perfect. There will be plenty in your price range too.

Thanks. do you mean Skoda yeti ?

When you get chance is there anyway you could measure the boot size..depth(seats up), width, height ?

Thanks. I have asked the other kind person for the boot dimensions but if you can give them too great.

Re the outback. My daughter will be driving it and I'm sure the outback is just a bit too long for her , isn't it also expensive to run and maintain ?

I’ll have a measure next time I’m in the yeti. I admit to missing the size criteria! The outback is bigger than the others you’ve mentioned, but the Subaru forester is a bit smaller and equally as capable. They aren’t that expensive to run, and are very reliable. I think of a small size is important, it’s hard to see past the 4x4 yetis.

Actually smaller total size is good but big enough boot for the 2 large labs if yo know what I mean

Your budget will just get you into a Zatira Tourer which would be my first pick but these are hard to find at this price point.

The two I'd be looking at are the Yeti and Duster, I was down to these exact cars 18 months ago.

I wouldn't avoid them but the Zafira Mazda5 C Max would always be ahead when it came to looking for a car with your requirements.

70-80 deep
1.00m tall
seats up and back but they do slide forward, can be put down or completely removed measurements are of the least space.

ZX10R is usually spot on but those choices are hideous.

Well that's bigger than the corolla we have which is 70cm deep and 77cm high

We like the duster aswell but the petrol models didn't have Aircon until later so I think £5k is not enough

Re the yeti does the 1.2tsi lack power especially with 4 passengers and 2 dogs ?

Out of your list definitely RAV 4 for reliability.

My cousin had one and it was faultless for 50k hard miles in the Peaks and tackled snow like a 'proper' 4x4.

Zafira is a decent MPV that is cheap due to it's badge.
Neighbour had the later model (Tourer?) and, whilst dull, was reliable with loads of room.

the 1.4 is better in the Yeti, but the 1.2 still feels OK, shouldn't be an issue. Have you looked at the Roomster Scout? they tend to be cheaper than the Yeti

Access spec Dusters lacked A/C but other specs have it, depends if you can get anything above access in budget. Logan MCV worth a look too, not sure if a Stepway would be in budget, enormous boot.

Thanks. No Scouts under £5k, no a/c dusters under £5k, Logan MCV is way too big for her sadly. There are some Dacia sandero stepways but dont know about them or the boot size.

The Sandero comes with decent trim, boot is comparable with something like a Polo or Fabia so probably a bit small. Skoda Fabia Estate also worth a look if you like Skodas. 4,257 long with a nice big boot, more of a Sportback than a proper estate. You could just about get yourself a Scout if you haggle. Seen plenty of Roomster Scouts in budget, but possibly not in your region.
