Obviously it was always going to happen eventually, but it feels like the end of an era now he has announced he is leaving in March.

Certainly the end of an era. The best bit of radio 2 weekday output for me.

Given how 'well' they replaced Steve Wright I guess this was inevitable.

Gradually being pushed to Gold and Smooth for daytime listening now... but I'm old so I guess Radio 2 is no longer for my demographic. tongue outgrumpy

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Well, that's it then. The end of Radio 2 for me. I wonder which cretin they'll bring in to replace him?

Seems he’s moving the entire show; Popmaster will go with him (hopefully they’ll make it a little easier as the last few years I’ve struggled to get into double figures getmecoat).

I’ve been listening to Greatest Hits Radio the past year or more; Simon Mayo drivetime being the highlight but whole bunch of former R2 presenters (mainly the better ones) work there.

Only downside is the ads but local traffic news is useful.

Yes, I think Ken owns the rights to Popmaster so he’ll take it with him. I’m guessing BBC will try to bring one of the temps in for a permanent slot, but wouldn’t want to guess who if they are focusing on a younger demographic.

The ads are indeed irritating. I often listen on catch up from their website whilst working. You can skip by time, to the next track etc and cut out the ads, news etc. Simon's album show at the weekend is well worth a listen and not their usual playlist. Will be skipping straight to
popmaster!

I'd suggest OJ Borg fits the bill. Not too irritating and about time he was shifted from the midnight slot.

Oh no, no more Pop Master. About the only reason I listen to BBC Radio 2 nowadays, that and Folk on 2 on a Wednesday night, but it was much better with Mike Harding. It really is the end of an era.

I can't abide commercial radio but would have considered moving with Ken, but it's not on DAB in the car in my area without using Android Auto and it isn't even on FM where I am, so that's that then.

At least he won’t have to put up with Jeremy Whine promoting his show for a few minutes every morning. Nobody else does this do they?

It's on Radio Tower, an internet radio station

He’ll escape from Richie and his buzz lane traffic announcements. Another win!
