The silver Amarok or the white Caddy van.

Amarok.

Parked too close to the junction but more importantly didn't check before opening their door.

Not sure how the white caddy could have avoided that.

It seems even if the van had stopped instantly the Amarok's door would have hit it. So, Amarok's fault.

Why? Is there some doubt about it?

laugh Quite - not even a difficult decision to know that the Amarok was at fault! Pause the video at 19s and the front of the Caddy is already parallel with the Amarok front door when it opens.

Weird how someone is videoing it at that exact moment, given the camera is moving it is clear it is someone on their phone as opposed to a a fixed CCTV camera.

Amarok 100%.

Can’t just swing a door into a road without checking it’s clear first.

Amarok driver failed to check before opening door
Amarok driver's fault entirely.

Also annoys me a bit that they appear to do the "what did you do that for?" shrug to the other driver. Mate never mind that, why did you fling the door open without checking?

It's probably someone using their phone to video CCTV footage being replayed on a monitor!

100% the Amarok. There is no way the Caddy could have avoided that, there is not room to leave a doors width. Plus, the idiot in the Amarok folds his mirrors in before exiting, so you 100% know he didn't check his mirror. The guidance is to open the door with your left hand now, to avoid incidents like this. Not that I do that, but I do check it's safe to open my door.

Is the Amarok driver disputing their liability?

Amorok 100%.
Not helped by the mirrors closing in before he opened the door - my Audi winds them in when I lock on walking away - why is this different? If the driver has pulled them in himself, then all the more reason to look before opening.

Can you not see the date and time in the top left? They've videod the playback of their CCTV.

If only he had kept up with changes to the Highway Code - Rule 239

If you have to stop on the roadside:

-you MUST ensure you do not hit anyone when you open your door. Check for cyclists or other traffic by looking all around and using your mirrors

-where you are able to do so, you should open the door using your hand on the opposite side to the door you are opening; for example, use your left hand to open a door on your right-hand side. This will make you turn your head to look over your shoulder. You are then more likely to avoid causing injury to cyclists or motorcyclists passing you on the road, or to people on the pavement

MDMA .

Amarok driver had folded his mirrors to add to his list of issues along with blocking the footway parking within 10m of the junction.

Sentenced to 10 lollipop swipes.
