How to check if a car has been clocked?

Going to look at a 2010 X5 for a friend and noticed this from the MOT history.

I have another friend that has a very good scantool and was wondering if it's possible to use that to find out the correct mileage if this car has indeed been clocked?

I doubt that's been clocked.

My commute is 3 miles each way. If I had a car solely for work purposes I'd only do about 1500 miles in a year, and that's without counting working abroad for maybe 10 weeks in a given year.

Some people just don't do many miles.

That wouldn't make me suspicious. I doubt it's been clocked at that mileage, unless they're trying to keep it under the arbitrary 100k that seems to bother people.

Buy it on condition and don't worry about it is my advice.

Or were just a bit worn on the first MOT and were worn enough to mention as an advisory 2000 miles later?

Take it elsewhere and it could pass fine on the brakes and they'll find something else.
Opinions vary.
In any case its only discs and pads as an advisory.

Exactly, so probably an over zealous MoT tester. But it most certainly does not say they are shot.

There factually has to be a point at which they move from one to another. In any case they are consumables on a 12 year old car. If the rest of the history is littered with fails then you may have a point but all we have is a possible clean pass the previous year in the screenshot.

There is no defined limits on what is to much wear it's all down too the testers opinions. I can mot a car and advise discs and one of the other guys in work not bother mentioning it. Let alone a test a year apart. Also low mileage will increase corrosion on discs as it's sat for long periods of time

Won't see it now as you can get a massive bking by dvsa actually get license points if you do it. Now it's all computerised it's monitored.
