Bird’s custard factory in Knighton is set to close. A loss that will be mourned by PHers.

Around 300 jobs are at risk at the factory, which now mainly makes what the firm called “non-branded powdered beverages”.
So not custard then!

I'm assuming they will continue to manufacture the same products somewhere overseas at a lower cost. Always have a tin of powdered custard on the go in the cupboard.

Surprised they haven't quietly tried to rename that rooster flavour... I notice that all references to cock sauce (a common name for sriracha in some countries) are now coming back as rooster sauce biglaugh

Bird's custard isn't even custard, just cornstarch with colours and flavouring, designed by Mr Bird because his wife was allergic to eggs.

I have three out-of-date tubs in the cupboard.

It's an upstart factory anyway. The real custard factory closed in the 60s

Well only one of us has made a lasting contribution to PH.

Hint: it isn't you.

Will they be making it in France instead?

After all, Johnny Frenchman already refers to his version as Creme Anglaise!

Judging by the OP, your contribution won't be lasting that much longer.
