Where to buy non-leather shoes?

My old smart work shoes have fallen to bits. I need new ones, and they must be veggie safe. Tried vegtarianshoes.com but the prices there are very high. Anyone know of any alternatives?

p.s. all people contemplating making a pointless anti-vegetarian reply, either make your own thread and post it there, or better yet, dont bother at all.

Shoemarket..probably easier to find plastic, than leather in there!

veganline.com do them, but I expect their prices are similar. Is vegetarianshoes.com the bunch in Brighton? I was dragged there by my missus, and she was suitably impressed. Not my cup of Bovril, but it takes all sorts.

What sort of quality are you looking for? The cheaper shops sell cheap man made shoes but they won't be very good quality...


Idle curiosity, are you completely non animal products, vegan type person, so don't eat eggs, milk etc?

Vegetarianshoes.com is the brighton place. Ive heard good things about the quality, but still, reluctant to spend the money for supposed extra quality without being able to assess it for myself.

The quality I want is basically tied to the price. If it costs £10, I dont mind if it only lasts a year, if it costs £50, I want it to last until the end of time.

And im not vegan no.

Hmm, My work shoes cost £150 a pair and 2 pairs last me 3-4 years, being resoled every year and re healed every two years, when worn alternately every work day

Why do i have some old ladt saying "cheap shoes" in the back of my head

Its all part of the persona When was the last time you saw a computer guy in a film looking truly smart? Nope - hollywood tells us that hugely paid IT geniuses look like tramps, or at best like people who hate wearing smart clothes. Ive got half of this role down, its only natural that the other half should follow

You should *always* wear good shoes, veggie or not. It even looks just about OK wearing £300 brogues with tatty jeans and a silly T shirt.

I can't imagine how shoddy a £10 pair of shoes would be, unless we're talking rubber flip flops.

(no I'm not intending to be a snob, but I'd rather have cheap jeans and good shoes than the other way round. Too often see fools wearing £150 'designer' jeans and cheap white trainers, tut tut)

Noone at work has noticed that i'm wearing 30 quid brown suedette hi-tech trainers instead of my normal combat boots. I'm sure if they were black i could wear them to a smarter office without anyone noticing. Been wearing them a year and nice and cool in the heat. I also cant drive in the combat boots...
