Which brand of brake discs and pads for Abarth 500?
Discussion
Can anyone give any advice on brake discs and pads.
Was researching last night but seems so many brands out there.
My abarth currently has solid brake discs (non drilled or grooved) with standard calipers. Don't drive on track so need to be suitable for everyday road use.
Now I've narrowed it down for following brands for the discs
Brembo
Tarox
EBC
MTEC
Pagid
I'm unsure on the brand that is currently fitted but it should be Brembo discs but the drilled variety, X-TRA line I think it's called. Should I steer clear of drilled due to cracks? Brembo do the Max Line which is grooved, anyone used these?
Anyone else used the other brands and what's your thoughts?
Brake pads I was looking at the Brembo Hp2000 or PBS pads or Ferodo DS2500 but these are expensive. Any others should consider?
I've also thought as I don't do track days then I should save money and get Brembo solid discs but with some decent high quality pads. What's your thoughts on that?

I’d price up the Fiat originals from Shop4parts first. So many of the brake brands are actually the same company and there are a ton of fakes out there, as well as those specifically made to a price for larger wholesalers but keeping the brand name.
As you probably know the factory upgrade is for two part drilled discs that are daft money.

I used to use Tarox drilled and grooved ones with ebc yellowstuff on my old Abarth front and rear
They worked well together and had zero rumble or fade while blasting around in the Pyrenees
The car was mapped and also had the full Koni setup and a custom 4 pipe exhaust with remote control

Personally I've always rated pagid and brembo for discs. For road driving I wouldn't go for drilled/grooved, they will just make more noise. Just go for ones with coated bells.
As for pads, most fast road/trackday pads need a bit of heat in them to work properly. They also produce a lot of dust. If they are available mintex M1144s are a good upgrade over OEM and work well on the road even when cold. But they do overheat on track.

Cool. Yeah had a look on shop4parts.co.uk and they are bit more expensive then few other places. They have the bog standard ones, then thr driller brembos then the 2 part ones too. It would be the drilled brembos but not sure if to go for drilled or not. As you probably know the factory upgrade is for two part drilled discs that are daft money.

Is eurocarparts.com OK to order from in terms of fakes as heard few stories about them? As you probably know the factory upgrade is for two part drilled discs that are daft money.

Cheers mate, did you have any issues with cracking and how did they compare to the ones that came with car? They worked well together and had zero rumble or fade while blasting around in the Pyrenees

I've found autodoc the cheapest, although shipping is generally around a week. Have you had a look at godspeed? They used to be my go to place for brakes when I had an impreza.

Cheers, its more if I go down the route of drilled or keep with solid discs that brembo do? I know I can get pagid discs too but these aren't drilled. As for pads, most fast road/trackday pads need a bit of heat in them to work properly. They also produce a lot of dust. Just checked thr mintex and sadly don't do m1144 for my calipers.
