You got a source for that?Yes, I do it frequently, swapping around use of my cars. When you SORN it, you receive a message explaining that you cannot re-tax it for 5 days. It's because the database is slow to update.

You can declare the vehicle SORN using the new keeper slip, but do it quickly. Once the change of keeper is carried out and a new V5c document issued (especially if it is done online), you have to wait for it to arrive. I once received the message "you cannot declare the vehicle SORN because...", I think it was about no longer being valid, or no longer the keeper?

It's an old thread resurrected, but I picked up a car on 19 December 2019 that was still taxed by the previous owner. He had agreed to hold off a day to notify DVLA of the change of ownership.
Parked it in my space, didn't SORN it or use it, just waited until 1 January 2020 then taxed it and had no issues.

I may be being thick, but do you mean March 2025?And I'd so, wouldn't the optimum time to "reset" it be February?
Regarding taxing a car online to remove SORN. I sorned my car as it was off road and with no MOT. The car passed the MOT but trying to tax the car online to remove the SORN is so frustrating!. It says " successful application already made. keep checking back within 5 days" I sorned it on a Monday and it is now,Friday but still can't tax it online. Has anyone had the same problem and when do you think I will be able to tax it online?. i know I can tax the car at a post office within the 5 days after sorn but its difficult for me to get to a PO...many thanks.
