A friend of mine has bought a 306 about a week ago i havent seen the car yet but she went and bought it from a dealer (not main) , anyway she had the car checked out at a pug dealer and the car has been in a bad accident and has been jigged etc but the pug dealer said not very well and the car is dangerous to drive , she has contacted the dealer and he said he hpi's all his cars but didnt have time to do this one , she wants a refund but he is saying no , surely she is entitled to a full refund ? i smell a rat on the hpi thing though so im going with her to sort it out , what are her rights though ? i gather its just the sale and supply of goods act 1994 or is there more buried ??

im no legal expert so im turning to you chaps for advice

I'm no legal expert either, but if the main dealer says that the car is dangerous to drive, I'd take it round to your local Trading Standards department. If the dealer who she bought it from wants to keep whatever reputation he may have, he would rather give her her money back that face a fine and the bad publicity any action may bring.

Surely that must qualify under the 'not fit for the purpose for which it was sold' clause of the sale of goods act. Local Trading Standards are the ones to talk to I should imagine.
