Hello, I am a newbie to 996tt X50 ownership... can anyone tell me what boost pressure you would expect to see on the digital readout.

I can see 0.9 bar on mine... it has only done 2k miles so I am not really going for it all the time only short bursts...

Thanks

I seem to remember Dazren mentioning his X50 gets 0.9 max.

With google in your favourites folder you could argue there is no point asking any question on a forum because someone would have already asked it elsewhere! It would soon get pretty bloody quiet around here though.

Getting back to the original question 0.9 bar is the maximum on an X50 and 1.0 on a GT2. I've been in tuned cars running the same turbos at upto 1.2 bar.

The bar produced can be affected by the climate, so you can't guarantee seeing 0.9 on every occasion you give it some.

Oh excellent choice of new car. Check out running costs on my profile. couple of tips your should pick up from reading it:

1 - Consider joining PCGB to get 10% off servicing at your OPC.
2 - If you go through the drivers side car mat buy the boxster set as it works out cheaper thaan replacing all four mats.
3 - Consider an alloy gearshift linkage.
4 - Get tyres from a good independent on a matching basis against internet companies.

Dazren,

Many Thanks for your reply. The comments in your profile are extremely helful. As to the comments on using Google to find answers, well it is very useful as well, however you can't beat hearing it from the horses mouth (so to speak).

Your top speed run at Brunters... 192 m.p.h out of the box... now that is impressive...

We had a very good tail wind that day.

The earlier VMAX days without the extended braking zones of the more recent events are what is responsible for abnormal front brake wear.

Hi Nbetts

I'm relatively new to 996tt X50 ownership too. Had mine a couple of months now. Hope you're enjoying yours as much as I'm enjoying mine !!!!

Absolutely awesome bit of kit. Best everyday supercar you can but IMHO.

Hi RobboM3,

Yes I am loving it. It is so docile and driveable when you want it to be... and when you want to go for it... whooossshhhh.... amazing... mine is returning 24mpg... which is staggering as well..

I have owned a couple of 996 C2's in the past and they were very good... but this car is truly astonishing...

I am sure that my BMW CSL might have been a bit quicker around a track, but the whole package of the 996tt more than makes up for it...

Happy Days...

Do you ever have conversations with friends and family, or do you just live with a browser?

thought this was a good idea but it is only parts (and from memory not oil) so saved me very little

did not bother renewing membership, magazine OKish but but forum over-policed and not neutral

Mmm, this is interesting. I’m sure I read somewhere when I first got my car that the X50 generated 1 bar, and I regularly saw this on my old car (I have a photograph to prove it but I’m not sure where to post it). I even saw 1.1 bar occasionally. Now I agree that the latest Turbo brochure says 0.9 bar (just checked) and I haven’t seen 1 bar on my Turbo S yet (although I haven’t really been trying). Is it possible that early X50 cars generated more boost?

The old turbos had a display that would only read 0.7 bar MAX. They did this for the same reason that this thread exists....
