Multiband time sync abroad

Just back from a trip south of spain and noticed that my Casio 5600 from years old had not synced since I left UK. Is this normal or was I just unluck in being in area that does not get signal. Should it be able to sync from all locations worldwide or does it have a certain region?

Looks like only part of Spain in range

Ah that makes sense - had thought it was worldwide but it's just for certain areas of the world as there are only a few transmiters and they have a range limit.
