Sold my lovely Boxster yesterday :weeping: Was very sad to see her go, but I think she's gone to a good home. Had to kiss that lovely soft roof as she left..... Still, it's not all bad, it's made way in the garage for an even bigger piece of pork in a couple of weeks :lick:

On balance I think the 996 is the right car for me. I love the sweet handling Boxster, but the 2.5 is a little lacking in grunt. However, I've also got two nippers, so you can see where this is going.
996 for me = four seats, more grunt and I still get the Porsche quality and sense of ownership that I love. The Noble was in the running, but TBH I'm fed up of constantly getting my shed out when I have the kids. The little rear seats are just perfect and mean I can use the Porker every day...
I'm sure I'll have plenty of comparisons to post in the near future

Had the key fob problem sorted today. It required a new fob which is cut by OPC Tonbridge and then they get codes from Germany. 1/2 hour later and my Mastercard has a £150 dent in it.
According to the service team this can happen at any time and the only way out is a new fob.
Had a nice coffee and they even provided me with an extension lead so I could plug in the laptop and do some work for the couple of hours I was there. Very pleasant experience apart from the £150.

As far as I'm aware it was the key and the fob. Could be mistaken as the original key was working fine. It was the unlocking/locking and soft top opening/closing bit of the fob that was FUBAR'ed.

Good luck with your search for the 996. I originally looked at a Boxster and the nice lads at Paragon provided a test drive. It really didn't "float my boat" but the 996 was awsome in comparison and of course you have those "cavernous" back seats. In all seriousness they are quite useful for bits of shopping etc.
Wind deflector is much better than the Boxster and my old SL for that matter. Very little wind even at reasonable speeds.

Dont be to upset bliar but you might find that your 996 3.4 wont feel that much quicker than a 3.2 boxster,wont handle as well and being pre facelift will look like a boxster and will cost more.having said that you will be able to say you own a 911 instead of a boxster,which seems to mater to some people.I sold my 987 and bought a 03 C2,yes its faster[not by much] yes its got more street value,but where it counts for me on the twisty stuff the 987 would make my C2 look like a tram and even in a straight line my C2 dances all over the place at high speed where as the boxster was rock solid.Im glad i bought the C2 though but the boxster is a better car for me but im sure the 997 would be a better match for the boxster

Yep, totally agree. My facelfit Boxster S was a lot more planted at high speed than my C2 is.
From reading various posts I believe this is limited in the main to the std C2 and all the 'higher models' with heavier front ends and stiffer suspension dont suffer so badly.
