What the general view on these?

Personally I love the Cartier Tank and I've been contemplating purchasing one for a while. I was looking at vintage model but the SolarBeat seems to be getting plaudits from the industry experts.

On one hand I can see paying 2k+ for a glorified quartz movement can be seen as a ripoff but on the other hand you're also getting a classic design with minimal change.

This would also be my first "big boy" watch after 10 years of collecting midrange (Seiko's) and some questionable fashion watches banghead

Don't worry about the quartz element: you can get a £20K+ Cartier with one. There are genuine benefits to having a quartz movement, even more so when it's solar-charged.

On its merits alone, this isn't a fantastic watch: but the same could be said of anything more expensive than £500. This is an iconic design with an innovative movement for the brand and it's near the very top of my list for this year.

It's also got a non-leather band which I think is a great innovation for Cartier and would love to support them on this.

I think it's enthusiast-approved and quite cool.

I've been 'on the list' for a couple of months.
TBF, I got an email advising back in stock mid-January, but I was on the beach unable to place an order. Two days later they were out of stock again. rolleyes
I think it'll sit nicely alongside my newly acquired Santos de Cartier.
