Motorshow: Invicta S1
The motoring world's best kept secret
Discussion
I read safety and Ford V8 and wonder if they figured the Invicta will be able to be sold world wide.
I'm in the USA and would gladly order one!
I have mentioned this before, but I think the key to success is to engineer the cars to world safety and emission standards so that when the local economy is down, there are other places to fish for customers!

I think the Invicta should be priced at just under £40,000. FBS looked good because they were right opposite Ginetta. I like the FBS and I spoke to the 2 owners of the cars. They were both well pleased with their cars. Anyway I have placed a deposit on a Smart Coupe and I am well pleased. Can't wait till March.

I thought that the S1 was the car of the show. Very nice looking, and the switchgear wasn't all borrowed from the Ford or Vauxhall parts bin. Definitely worth considering if you're looking for a car in that market.
I notice that JamesC liked the FBS. I can only assume that there are 2 companies called FBS, because the one I saw was the biggest pile of crap I've ever seen at a motor show. Appart from the car looking like it had been carved from cheese by a blind man using a knife and fork, the "show car" even had a flat tyre

Everyone who has sprung to the defence of the FBS car before has said "Wait until you see it in the flesh". Well, I did yesterday and I'm afraid I have the following points to make. Delete as applicable:
1 - PC comment. It's not profoundly gorgeous.
2 - Un-PC comment. It's fcuking horrible. I'd be embarassed to be seen out in it.
DISCLAIMER: I have nothing but respect for the makers of this car to build a sportscar from the ground up. It takes vision, and no doubt spadefuls of determination. But compared to what it's up against, pretty it is not.

Exactly
Wasn't expecting much from the Invicta but happened to pass it en-route to the Noble stand. Thought it looked absolutely stunning ! Fantastic styling job with superb attention to detail (wing mirrors, interior trim, switch gear etc). Reminds me of a more contemporary aston martin. Power does appear a little low but spoke with the guy on the stand and he said that a supercharge option (circa 500bhp) would be available sometime down the line. Arranged for a test drive early next year. I think it will sell well.

Yes the car looks stunning, but I sat in it on Thursday, now remember this is supposed to be the ready to drive, fully sorted, lets keep it a secret 'till we're ready, don't wan't to dissapoint the public version. The interior was shoddy, broken, too many cheap plastics that were too thin; trimming around glazing units needs sorting, need I go on? Reminds me of (paraphrasing)
"nice to handle, lovely to hold,
make more like this and they'll never be sold".

So it's designed to have a flat then. Must make handling interesting.
I assume that the finger prints in the sealant round all of the windows was there for aerodynamic reasons too.
Still looks like it's been beaten with the ugly stick though. I can't understand why people put all of that effort into designing a car (I assume it has been designed), and make it look so fugly.
James (the one who thinks the FBS won the award for "crappiest looking car at the show", not the one who loved it, but ordered a Smart car).

James, I'm no great fan of the FBS shape but I notice you did'nt respond to my post about the Smart gearbox. Have you actually driven one (a Smart that is 'cos I assume there are no coupe demo cars) that gearbox did it in for me after about 3/4 mile - shame 'cos I really wanted to like it, but it was shite! Rich... p.s. my 17y old son borrowed one or a few days.
