Scottsdale Arizona does a series of amazing auctions every January. I have never bothered to attend but decided to have a look at Barrett-Jackson. 1900 vehicles and all sorts of Automobilia. It is very well organized. Parking is a couple of miles away with a never ending fleet of coaches to drop and pick up right outside.

The scale of the thing is astonishing. Endless numbers of places to eat, as many drink establishments as one can manage, lots of souvenirs, hundreds of T-Shirts and so on. It is a city. I only went briefly and did not wait for the headliners at the end of the week...Ferrari F-40, Carrera GT etc. I have seen many examples in my life, so was interested to see some of the midrange stuff

.

Just after entering there is the ideal vehicle of you are a dictator for a small country:

This thing can be configured to almost any level of paranoia, separate air supply ,the lot.

It. is a good ten minute walk before any auction cars.

Cadillac was showing off its new EV:

Barrett. had the biggest T shirt collection I have seen at an event:

There is a burgeoning market in customizing old Ford Broncos.
Would you believe $400k for this?

and even a shout out to the Winged Horse of Chav Tat:

Nice T-Birds

A Buick Grand National with delivery mileage. These were very quick in their time:

A couple of fairly identical Z8s . Much better looking with the hardtop off and the top down in my view. Nice to drive though:

A Munster car for the practical among us:

Nice '35 Ford Woody:

Two amazingly rare 4x4s.:

Ford did not supply 4x4 for the woodies or the sedan deliveries, but it could be ordered from Marmon Herrington. Very expensive and the vehicles stood noticeably taller:

.and where would we be without pickup trucks?;

I think Dodge Power wagons are the best looking trucks of all but in standard trim they only reach 45MPH. There are customizers here doing very expensive remanufacturing to make them look authentic but with modern power and running gear.

Studebakers are a lot less common:

Not a whole lot of of Jeep pickups either:
