I rang Chrisopher Neil (Northwich) this morning to enquire about the MTC only to be told that it is not going to be produced. Somewhat surpised but even more surprised to be told that the M12 will be replaced in 2006 by a new model. I've not seen anything in the press and this was big news to me. Anyone know about it, such as when, how much, photos, etc. ?

Yes there is a new model coming...the M14 (in developement apparently), but it is a different car from the current 3R and M400. The M12 GTO is the model that seems to have been replaced.

You're right, the M14 is due out next year but he was talking about a replacement model for the M12 being the next development rather than an open top version of the M12.

Yes, the M12-2. The one the factory say ISN'T going to be built Isn't going to have the new engine layout as per Lee's race car, isn't going to feature the wider track and other exterior mods, isn't going to have revised aero, and no doubt isn't going to have a revised interior...........

Hardly suprising there would be another "evoloution" of the M12 in 2006 given it'll then be 2 years since the M400 and 3 since the 3-R, and it seems that only M400s are being sold now.

I do wonder about the M12-2 thing though - if you look at Lee's M12-2 I hardly think that interior is the latest thoughts on improvement!

Hmm, a car dealer says its so, so it must be true. Are we really assuming what Christopher Neals' man says is gospel?

Should the factory not comment?????????

I don't see how the factory can comment? If they wanted people to know they'd have told us already!

The GTC has been put on hold until we have completed the M14 project. We will then give the project our full consideration.

I have stated this quite clearly before: there will be no direct replacement for the M12 or M400 this year or next. As you know, our new model will be in a different category to the M12 and will never be marketed as an 'M12 Mk2'. I will put a call in to the dealer this morning to investigate further.

Apologies if this has misled any of our owners. I fully appreciate the implications to the residual values of your cars if a direct replacement became available.

M14 is due in 6 months

I wonder if people are getting confused with the various third party developments to the M12/M400 that are going on at the moment???

The Dealer didn't sound confused and indeed he was right in telling me that the MTC is not currently being pursued. Perhaps he right about a follow up to the M12...

But it was the GTC not MTC - so if the dealer thought there was a MTC then I'd not take that much credence in what he said.

Also, given the press officer of Noble has just said publically that there will be no "M12-2" next year, and the dealer was wrong, he'd look a right prat if there was.

But then perhaps I trust what people say too much....

But when they decided to use the 3 litre, did they not very fairly then offer anyone who had a 2.5 about to go into build a "half price" upgrade to a 3 litre ?

Don't know why you think that - I was told by the dealer and the factory about the 3.0l engine when I bought car number 26 - nearly a 100 cars before the 3.0l was introduced.

Yes - many people did the change and the stories were played out on here.

As I said, certainly since my car Number 26 they were very open to the fact that the change was going to happen. They also (after much development) released a 2.5l upgrade that gave similar headline BHP figures (although by its nature, very different characteristics).

I got it from someone who bought a 2.5, subsequently I've found out about one other who was, and I quote, "catagorically" told that no such upgrade was going to happen by the factory.

They were fair about the upgrade to 3l on ordered cars (as mine was), but then if you are going to get into that arguement you could counter with the poor 3R owners who paid extra for the 6 speed box only to have it made standard and the base price reduced thereby knocking £5k from residuals overnight.
