I have just bought a lovely 1989 Carrera Club Sport, realising a long time ambition.

I do a lot of trips overseas and to the Ring, and am currently looking without success for an organisation that will provide European breakdown cover (preferably "all-in-one" with UK cover). So far, I am finding that the car is too old to qualify (10 or 11 years seems to be the limit).

I'd appreciate any advice on where to find this sort of cover.

Many thanks

Steve

AA will do it, tho it will all add up as you have to do each trip individally- 1 week euro cover in older car just cost me £74 for instance.

Think ya best bet may be to choose insurance with Euro recovery thown in, some companies do this for a years cover for as litle as £40

Congrats on your purchase Stephan, i ran an '89 CS for a few years, they are great cars...If you don't mind posting part of the reg...I may well know the car.

With respect to European cover...I have a classic policy with classic line, they do european breakdown with Uk for about 35 quid, thios does compliment the car insurance policy.

You will have a great time at the ring with the CS, I went out a couple of times in mine, the suspension is a little more compliant than most and really helped plus it gets a lot of attention and respect with the colour scheme...i am sure you will have a lot of fun with it.

AA euro cover excludes the Ring (see the T&C's).

RAC will cover you (no Ring exclusion) for around £70 per trip or you can take an annual policy out for around £150.

Cars over 10 years are fine they just load the premium slightly.

If you want cover to specifically include the ring, take out German ADAC cover (only costs around £30/year). check out their website www.adac.de

ADAC is the german equiv of RAC/AA.

Or if you breakdwon/have an accident, pay ring racing to recover the car to their premises and get the european RAC/AA cover to pick you up from there. Worked for me.

Many thanks for the input.

Have secured a European policy with NU as part of my insurance (they kindly "backdated" the breakdown cover part).

For the Ring, that's very helpful advice.
