Need to stay for two nights in or around Ringwood end of the month so did a Google search and three of the Booking apps come up with the Royal Bath hotel in Bournemouth at £47 per night. Looks nice and bearing in mind the time of year, I thought it was a bargain.

So tried to book it and the price goes up to £67 for no reason, hotel says they can't match the web price. Eer, it's your hotel don't you make decisions???? . And that's for a room without a chuffin window. How the ffffferevans sake does that work? Who wants a room without a window? I can get that at the local prison. If I want a window it's now £129 per night exc breakfast which luckily confused I can book and pay for direct when I check in. I did ask her if I could bring a picture of a window to pin on the wall but she didn't see the funny side of that.

Also, we've got two small dogs, Cavaliers and they're charged at £20 EACH per night. I asked what food they get for that and she thought I was taking the ppppmick again. And did sir want to book it? No I effin don't.

What are they playing at? All of a sudden a £47x2night (£94) stay has got to £338 and I still haven't had breakfast?

Rant over.

Anyone have a suggestion for a decent hotel ideally with an indoor pool for SWMBO while I'm working?

This Royal Bath? The worst rated hotel in Bournemouth

Don’t have any recommendations I’m afraid but stay away from anything Britannia would be my advice.

ETA no-window rooms are usually internal rooms in the centre of the hotel.

I did my work experience there, was 5* back then, loads of character.

We charge for dogs too, much like kids it’s the extra work involved and whilst a reasonable market goes towards the carpets and furniture damaged, that was never their dog.

Moortown Lodge in Ringwood used to have deal with the David Lloyd that is next door. Not sure if they still have it.

As soon as you mentioned a hotel room with no window, it had to be a Britannia Hotel. How on Earth this company is still in business is beyond me. We had the “pleasure” of staying in one of their hotels in Manchester City Centre when attending a Muse concert a few years ago. Same issue, no window!
We stayed out until the early hours to avoid the room as much as possible!

I grew up in Bormuff. The Royal Bath used to be part of the DeVere Group and was THE 5* hotel.
It’s an absolute sthole now. It’s a huge shame, but everything Britannia touches means it’ll become like a halfway house for former prisoners.

OP: DON’T DO IT!!

Stayed at the Royal Bath a few times and the downstairs was always nicer than the rooms (quite common). You also forgot the £20-25 valet parking underground, they manually folded my electric folding mirrors and not long after it completely died possibly a coincidence but I doubt it.

But as everyone said it went downhill quickly when it changed hands. We then started staying at the Highcliff Marriott. Rooms were smaller but much nicer although they did have a rat problem when I was there and we even spotted a couple (but this is a few years ago now).

Personally if I was staying at ringwood I’d be looking to stay closer than Bournemouth.

Because it's business model is housing illegal immigrants/asylum seekers, very profitable too

I would second this. I'm responsible for our Corporate travel at our place - Brittania were the cheapest providers but we've removed them from our Travel Booking System because of the number of complaints, ranging from sticky carpets, mould, cockroaches, all the way to a woman complaining about being followed to her bedroom by one of the Hotel staff and him looking at her in a funny way.

Indeed. However I believe a lot of the asylum seekers have said it feels like they never left home.

If you really want a hotel with indoor pool & takes dogs, you probably need to be looking at some of the hotels with spas in the Forest, but you will be spending more than 50 quids!

That's how I came across Britannia. It was a 'secret' hotel, and when I googled the photos it matched a Devere hotel. Job was done I thought.

Then I found out they had sold it to Britannia.

Hate to say it but these budget chains do it best.
