This is a long shot if anyone is knowledgeable with this .I found what I think is a part of a 9mm gun cartridge on the beach or maybe part of the gun barrel .just interested to know what gun it came from

It’s got a solid copper driving band and reads

LOT M
9

Base material steel with a black material layered over

Can't drag much more detail out of that picture I'm afraid.

I believe it’s the middle of a bullet of some type .possibly ww1 .the 9 on it seems to relate to a 9 calibre gun and measures that on the inside barrel, the copper also has 9 markings .

Too much length to width for a 9mm P. Base doesn’t look like any fired bullet I have seen.

Bit of a mystery. . .

Looks more like a cannon round having a copper driving band.

A bullet would have no driving band

A better photo. This was after cleaning /polishing for a few hours, originally it was incased in stones and hard clay

The size of the lands certainly leans towards something big, could you measure the diameter?

Unusual for a bullet to have anything stamped on it but that looks way to big for anything handheld.

If you get one chambered for .700" you don't actually need to shoot at what you want to kill, the sound of the rifle being loaded is enough to scare the target to death hehe

I'm going to say maybe 20mm hispano.

But with the section aft of the driving band detached maybe.

That seems possible and fits but I can’t find any with the black coating or stamped numbers but the 9 might be 1939
Possibly an anti aircraft gun

Which beach did you find it on? Might be worth a Google to see if there were any gunnery ranges nearby.
