Think you have to replace the whole boot lid. You would have yo replace it properly with the auto-rising spolier as you don't want a nasty accident - unlike most max power cars, the spoilers on porsche are there for a reason and are an important part of the aerodynamics.

Hi Andrew - so like me you did the Lotus to porsche thing!?

You have to replace the whole bootlid as above. The GT3 spoiler is a complete lightweight bootlid with moulded spoiler.

Why are you looking to remove it, and what are you doing with it afgterwards - I might be interested at the right price / colour.

Rollin are you the chap from Males garage? Might be confusing you with someone else but your name was familiar from the BCBBS.

Why would you want to remove the GT3 aerokit? Looks great imho!

Ah yeah Dunc was the chap. Rollin's name is still familiar though.

Bruce, have you got the sports exhaust on your car?

Nope - has the sports tail pipes though I think - they're bigger than the norm.

Bruce... No I haven't bought one yet but I've started looking at a few. I like the rest of the GT3 kit, but I'm not too keen on the rear spoiler. Looks like it could be more expensive than I thought to remove it.
I like this one and it seems resonably priced too. www.pistonheads.com/sales/47429.htm

Still a bit worried about RMS/engine problems as well to be honest. Have you had any problems with yours?

You could pay the 200 quid for the OPC inspection before you purchase with a view to taking out the extended warranty if its ok and you want the car. 750 a year for no RMS worries...

Still can't work out why you'd remove the GT3 body kit though, I think 996s look bare without something on the back!

Andrew - touch wood no real problems - it's a small, insiginifact problem on an otherwise amazing car - just go for it.

I have the porker warranty, and will just get an RMS at the clutch change to be honest - it's really not worth worrying about - but you know me and that I'm in a fortunate position when it comes to working on cars.

So far I've replaced the air con condensors and have just realised I'm going to have to replace the number plates.....

number plates you ask...well yes....I just realised the plates the dealer put on the car don't match the V5 or the tax disc!!!

I must agree with Dan that the GT3 kit looks fantastic in the flesh.

That car you posted a link to looks like a bargain to me - if I hadn't bought mine I'd deffo be looking at it. More than happy to go have a shufty for you??

btw... another way to remove it is, to drive at 190mph on a de-restricted autobahn.. and then it comes off by itself.. or so I hear

Design911.co.uk has the GT3 Aerokit for 1695 + VAT

Adding the kit on afterwards widens your choice of cars when purchasing.

I've just brought a pre-facelift turbo bumper from them. It will be on the car by next weekend
