Brand loyalty - price rises

Anyone else found themselves moving away from certain food brands because of the recent price inflation?

We're starting to move away from any Heinz products because of their prices, ketchup and soup has gone through to roof..

I have started buying more supermarket own brands and often have found them to be equally as good as the main brands.

Heinze in particular I havent bought from in quite a long time. Though the supermarket does occasionally have offers on which make it worth while.

Yes. We will only buy Heinz now if it's on offer. Their prices have gone up something like 30-40%.

In Lidl this morning and there were small tubs of Lurpak Spreadable for £5.35, that is insane. Still £1.30 for the 1 litre skimmed milk though. I noticed that some of the good stuff from other shops haven't gone up that much, for example, 6 Large Burford Brown eggs for £3.60. Cheese hasn't gone up much.

We moved away from Heinz years ago, because of the taste. A triumph of marketing over content. A bit of investigation, trial and error, and everything they make is made much better and lots cheaper by someone else.

Salad cream has to be heinze. Brown sauce has to be chop and a few other essentials but look at cheaper options everywhere else

Was in asda this week and saw bistro gravy granules at £4.50 for a standard tub, couldn't believe my eyes. Cheaper brand from somewhere like bargain madness is like £1.50

Shopping around is the order of the day now

I much prefer Branston baked beans, ketchup is 'meh', however there isn't a substitute for Heinz oxtail soup when ill.

Thats insane - the Aldi - Is it Quixo - or similar? version is 99p and I possibly remember you get a bigger 'tube' besides. Perhaps my palate is unsophisticated but once you have added the roasting juice etc - literally no difference.

Heinz means beanz?

More than satisfied with the alternative offerings from the Aldi/Lidl, be it soups/macaroni cheese/beans.

Not keen on cheap coffee - just because the jar is big, it doesn’t offer good value.

Heinz should re-release their 1963 smash hit single, "Just like Eddy" as an additional income stream if times are tight for them.

I'm partial to a tin of beef and veg Big Soup, but the Wife doesn't buy it any more for some reason.

Definately agree about Branston beans, much better than Heinz.

Been buying Asda own brand tomato sauce for a while I don't really eat it but the kids do and they seem happy with it.

Heinz soup is ridiculously expensive ow, though supermarkets do deals on 4 pack & 6 packs bit only in the standard flavours such as tomato, chicken etc, whereas I love their Scotch Broth. Tend to avoid buying them now.

Whilst in Tesco I was trying to calculate the value of Heinz 4 pack of beans, then I saw Tesco own brand beans were 50p per tin and part of a 4 for 3 offer, so grabbed them instead and they are perfectly tasty so I doubt I'll be reverting back to Heinz.

In the past, we've would have picked up a tin or pack of Heinz beans without really looking at other brands.

In Aldi on Saturday, a four pack of Heinz was £4! When I pointed out to Mrs Harpoon we could have something like 8 tins of Aldi own for the same money, the Heinz stayed on the shelf. Aldi own tasted fine, so unlikely we'll swap back now.

So are Heinz (and/or the retailer) just ripping the arse out of the pricing? Or is their cost base ridiculous and they have to sell at that price?

I believe it's Heinz. When prices started going up there was a period when Tesco removed all Heinz products from their shelves as Tesco thought they were taking the piss. Although the cynic in me thought it was Tesco trying to say "look we're the good guys, it's not our fault"

I love baked beans, Heinz beans have always been average, the sauce is way too thin with not a great flavour, Aldi Corale beans are fantastic.

Just done an order with Motatoes. Was not too well packed, but some of their stuff is quite cheap & also they do Heinz sausages & tinned spaghetti which I'd never seen before.
