Currently interested in one of these but despite full history no mention of gearbox oil being changed. Too risky or get a oil change on the box and hope for the best? Car is very well priced so i am quite keen but not if it will smash my wallet later on!

Powershifts have a habit of disintegrating. Our 2012 did. I'd check if they'd improved them for 2015, oil change or not.

They are reliable IF serviced appropriately - every 3 years/36k. If no proof of service, I'd walk away - plenty of Mondeos around.

Spoke to a local gearbox specialist and they advised to give a wide berth so that’s what I will do.

Our 2012 smax powershift gearbox failed at 124k miles even when serviced at every 30k intervals.

It cost us £3k to rebuild. I asked about the newer 2016 on Smaxs with powershift and was told they are even worse..

Lovely gearbox to use when matched with the 2.0 tdci but expensive when things go wrong..

I wouldn't have another one..
