Just starting to look at replacing the hatchback for something that will make long distances with the family a bit more comfortable

We do around 10k miles a year but due to no commute that is all generally weekend trips and long distance European driving holidays.

We have 2 young ones still in high back boosters to fit in but no need to fit prams in the boot

Looking at second hand prices we can afford a 2017/2018 model but having never owned a Porsche and overhearing noise of expensive repairs and services, what should I really be expecting for servicing and general repairs?

I typically spend around £1500-£2500 a year at the moment to cover servicing, brakes, tyres and any other maintenance so should I be doubling that? More?

You’re presumably looking at the 2nd gen Panamera with the 4.0 V8 diesel, it’s a superb engine, as is the 8 speed PDK gearbox. It’s the engine I’d choose, it suits the car perfectly, but as they only made it for a year, there’s not that many available.

With regard to running costs, I’d be inclined to suggest getting one from a main dealer with a comprehensive warranty, and then your running costs will be limited to tyres and servicing. Yes you may pay more to buy it, but the peace of mind will be worth it. I would suggest your budget is sufficient bearing in mind your 10k a year mileage.

I hadnt actually considered the warranty aspect on used. I would plan on keeping it long term so getting something with Porsche warranty to start with would be a good place to start.

Ive just checked and can see the porsche warranty is 24 months and can then be extended at not a huge cost up to 15 years of age of vehicle so that gives a huge amount of reassurance.
