It's been just over 10 years since I bought my last road bike. A Look 566 in white which has been absolutely perfect but it's now starting to show its age from being ridden in all weather's.

I'm really tempted by this Colnago being sold on Ebay.

ebay colnago

However it seems a bit dodgy coming from Latvia and being so much cheaper than a UK retailer. However there is the ebay money back guarantee whatever that is worth. What's the chances it would arrive as expected?

For starters, you will get a bill for VAT and import duty.
Return postage will be a nightmare.

If it's such a good deal, why is no one within the EU buying it?
Their feedback is small beer, they seem to have sold a few cheap items.

If I was spending on a colnago I'd be making sure it had full UK warranty and support, not buying from some ebay bloke halfway across Europe. Even assuming it turned up, who's to say it is actually a Colnago and not a cheap Chinese bike with some vinyl badges on it?

If someone else asked you if it was a good idea to send £3,000 to some guy in Latvia on eBay with a feedback of 44, then what would your answer be?

As said, even if something did arrive then likely liable for big chuck of fees, may well not be genuine, and a warranty minefield. It’s a pass from me thanks.

Yeah thats pretty much my same thoughts but good to have it confirmed. I shall just have to hope there are some good sales this year.

There have been a few 'bargains' going round

They are an authorised Colnago dealer according to Colnago’s dealer finder and they also have a legit looking online shop:

Is this the same bike with a Ultergra?

From a reputable UK shop as well?

You need to factor in customs and vat as you will have to pay for it to come into UK
Most of the big bike shops in Europe have stopped supply to the UK because of this.

Or the genuine article..
“ All of our mid-range bicycles will be designed in Italy and produced in Taiwan."
