A reboot is on the way of our favourite Torquay hotel.

Still starring Cleese, but this time also features his daughter, Camilla. The new series will explore how John Cleese’s "over-the-top, cynical and misanthropic Basil Fawlty navigates the modern world”, with the plot focusing on his relationship with his daughter as they manage a boutique hotel together.

(Mods feel free to change the title to one of the other anagrams. biggrin)

Interesting, fingers crossed this is good. Hope they finish it in time as he's not getting any younger.

Doesn't he owe some of his wives a lot of money? Probably something to do with that.
Hopefully it's completely different to FT, because I can't see it going well, but hope i'm wrong.

As long as they don't try and copy FT this could possibly work, an older Basil being shown up for being a non pc dinosaur, trying to change but making an even bigger fool of himself, cringe factor could be higher than the original!

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

This has got disaster written all over it. John "cash-in" Cleese hasn't done anything worth watching for decades and there is no way this is going to be anything but awful.

Fawlty Towers was, very nearly, perfect. There is absolutely no need to reboot or revive it, at all.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Yet another classic show which will be tainted by the reboot. It was a unique ,hilariously funny and very clever 12 episodes of comedy bliss. A resounding NO from me.

Wait and see.

Of course the original was stupendous, but couldn't be made in today's world.

My heart sank when I read of this.

Some things should be left well alone.

Appalling idea. The fact that Cleese even thinks that it is a good idea illustrates how far off his judgement has become.

I've no doubt it'll be a major flop. When ever I hear him being interviewed, he just comes across as being a pompous arse.

the supporting cast will be the biggest sign if it will be rubbish or not. Basil Faulty meets and panders to a character played Rosie Jones eughhhhh

he was a pompous arse in the 70's.

With the passage of time there is plenty to provide a good script for the characters in FT. Whether he can access that, time will tell.

Hopefully the Major will be back to tell us all the appropriate names to call International cricketers.
