Complete photographic coverage from Tap and I is now online at our gallery clicky...enjoy!

As the owner of a Black Exige S1, seeing one on fire is something deeply troubling for me....hope that it gets sorted and comes back faster than ever

Yup, I'm being nosey!

Your pictures are brilliant. May I ask what equipment you use - camera, lenses etc etc.

No problem I have a Canon 10D and Tap has a Canon 1dMkII. We use pretty much exclusively Canon L lenses, from 17-40F4L up to Tap's mammoth 500F4L. Glad you enjoyed the shots!!

Fantastic photos!

Looks like there was some real serious kit there, and is it just me, or do the Atoms never look like they are going very fast?

What's remarkable is the Exige that rolled suffered barely any bodywork damage - broken splitter (probably when it entered the gravel) and a couple of cracks in the bodywork but that was about it.

Bit of an interesting race, to say the least, I was watching from the back of the pits standing near Gavan Kershaw, who was keeping an eye out for the Red and Yellow motorsport Elise, as he would be driving it in the endurance race later. Felt sorry for the driver as he should have won - he carried so much speed through McLarens, fantastic stuff.

I thought the Caterham, No.99 was going to win. I believe he came 2nd having started last on the grid.

The roll was actually quite a slow one, he got out of shape in the middle of Clearways, corrected it but ended up on the marbles on the outside of the corner which caused the car to break away again. It looked like the driver overcorrected and the car spun sideways into the gravel.

It dug in and started to roll over ever so slowly - I thought it wasn't going to go all the way over - but eventually it did. Very gentle and slow hence the lack of bodywork damage.

Yep, driver climbed out of his own accord. I think he looked quite relieved when he saw the (lack of) damage.

For those that asked after the lotus on fire - the driver was out of the car long before it took hold as well.

Ditto for me on the results sheet. I still haven't seen the result so if anybody has it to hand, can they post it?

Thanks for the info.

I have Canon D30 and use EOS EF lenses.

I read somewhere on the forums that you always shoot in RAW mode, so out came the manual tonight just to find how I switch to RAW mode.

Do you do your image correction (contrast, colour etc etc) in RAW mode?

Do you then convert it to another file format?

I think Adobe Photoshop has a plugin to use RAW image files.

I guess the proof of the pudding is in the race results.

The Atoms featured in two races and won both.

What was that you said?

1) Shoot RAW
2) Develop in RAW Shooter Essentials - changing exposure, highlight and shadow contrast - use RAW shooter's default sharpening - touch of extra saturation.
3) Crop, slight adjustments to white balance and a minor amount of sharpening in photoshop to get back the sharpness lost in the resize.

PS does have a RAW plugin now but we prefer the RAW processing in Rawshooter. Hope this helps...

Didn't mean to imply they were slow, they just never seem to be in any photo's - like they have zero body roll in corners, or they aren't hammering it... From the sounds of it, they are remarkably stiff (f'nar f'nar).

I do understand. Being so light they do stick well to the inside track and therefore it's easy to get the impression they're not being pushed as hard.

As Jeremy Clarkson commented "driving nirvanah"

Cheers
