The front lid struts on my 997.1 are starting to give up the ghost. Are those advertised online decent enough?

Hi John, Just bought a pair for mine but always buy OEM. The cheapest I could find were from Type 911 at £18 each which looks a good price as some rip off merchants are asking £70 each. After Vat and delivery, final price was £51.54 for the pair delivered next day.

They’re around £25 each from a Porsche dealer, or £17 each from Frazerpart.

Brilliant, Thanks.

You haven't by any chance changed brake discs too have you? I have someone to give me a hand fitting them. Waiting on OPC to get back to me on a price.

Yes, changing discs and pads is a fairly straightforward job. OE spec on a 997 is Sebro discs and Textar pads, but Brembo make some equivalent quality parts which are slightly cheaper.

The one problem you may encounter is that the torx retaining screw which locates the disc against the hub will have seized and may need drilling out. Use the best quality torx drive you can get..!

The other common problem is the bleed nipples can become corroded and seize in the caliper. This isn’t the end of the world as there are many engineering companies who’ll be able to drill them out for you.

Thanks for the info! Yea, already aware of the bleed nipples being seized. Cheers!
