Steering wheel spacer

Came across interesting video of a new spacer to move wheel closer. However, looks huge reach to the paddles and stalks

interesting. different paddles could fix that. But the indicator stalk would be a bit far.

A interesting video for sure, but whilst some people may have short arms (and long pockets?) personally I have never felt the need to have the wheel closer to me - what's the point, given the acknowledged correct distance is to rest the palm of your hand on the top of the wheel with a very slight bend in the elbow, then set the seat position to suit arms, legs and recline angle, if using a 'comfort' seat.

Maybe I'm just missing something here?

Like you, I have no issues finding a comfortable position and I tend to prefer the wheel closer to me rather than adopting the scalectrix straight arm
Maybe somebody sees the need due to longer legs
From the video, the cables are only just long enough in the new position

I fitted an approx. 9cm spacer on one of my cars & it made a big improvement. It didn’t bother me at all that the indicator stalk was further away, but I can see how it would be annoying to have the gear change paddles so far away. It would be easy enough to extend these & bring them close to the wheel again, though, especially if you weren’t bothered about making them look like OE.

I'd quite like the wheel to come a little bit further away from the pedals, but I can't see myself getting around to fitting one of these. How much are they?

Really, I'd like to change the whole steering wheel.

Same, coming from a 911, the Alpine wheel is incredibly thick. Hope it's possible one day!

there are momo boss kits for Megane RS I would guess it is something to explore, under the skin this car is still basically a Renault.

the buttons are only for cruise control really.

If you Google spaceship it looks like they are €245
As for aftermarket wheels, I've seen additional buttons added to the clamp on button plate like a race car wheel that are available for Mono, Sparco, etc if you want to keep the controls
A resistor needs adding to airbag wires so that there are no faults. However some MoT testers won't test a car without an airbag on the wheel unless it's a competition or track car only

and right there is the main problem.
In Australia after 5 years yearly inspections would flag this, so ok until then. but the other issue is a cop who is having a bad day and will defect the car on the spot if they see it.
