Hi, I was wondering if there is a specfic process when you deposit on a new car?

Are you supposed to get an order form when you pay the deposit?

Is this process defined by Porsche GB/AG or is it up to the OPC how they deal with deposits?

Thanks

From what I've gathered, it depends if you're looking at a limited supply GT model or a regular model:

Regular model: express interest with OPC and define spec, pay deposit, OPC requests build slot from Porsche, build slot comes at some point in the future, spec locks, car arrives

GT model: express interest with OPC and define spec, OPC is given limited build slots from Porsche each quarter, cars are allocated to customers by the OPC, spec and deposit taken, spec locks, car arrives

I'm sure someone will correct me if I've got it wrong...

Thanks for the reply.

They are standard production models.

I deposited over 15 months ago on some cars. Everytime i ask about my order im told that there are supply chain issues and that they havent recieved any allocations as yet.

My question is specific to whether or not when i paid my deposits, should i have recieved an order form for the vehicles to confirm recepit of my deposits and to be put in some sort of queue for the cars?

I am now starting to think that my deposits are being used in an untoward way!

I've not gone through the process myself so I can't be 100% sure, but you should have some sort of paperwork. It won't be an order form, as the OPC haven't linked you to an allocation by the sound of it, but there should be a deposit confirmation.

Some cars are in very short supply and long waits are to be expected, especially if it's a very popular model or one that Porsche have de-prioritised.

My experience:

Go into the dealer and spec the car.

They take your deposit (3/5/10K depending on model)

Go away and print off the paperwork...

You receive the "New Vehicle Order Form". This has your details, vehicle particulars, legal small print and a Model Cancellation Form attached. One copy for you, a signed one for the dealer.

Within a couple of days, Porsche e-mail confirming Order and a link to open "your car" in the My Porsche App indicating that Porsche AG have received your request.
___________________________
At this point you may not have an allocation. Nothing changed when I got an allocation, but nearing the build stage the App now shows Stage 3 (Scheduled for Production)...

When I placed a deposit and order for my car back in June 2021, I was then emailed a 'New Vehicle Order Form', that contained all my personal details, car model and spec configuration, total price etc. And in the notes section of that form, my dealer had specified the date the deposit was paid and also a rough approximation of when I could expect to receive the car based on current forecasts.

Separately, I also received a digital receipt for the deposit I paid via their online portal.

Hope this helps.

Have you deposited on more than 1 car given the “s” used a few times ?
You should definitely have received though at the very least a receipt marked as such per deposit but preferably as others have said a new vehicle order form per car suitably annotated.
Do you at least have the credit card or debit card receipt ?

With my GT4 it went:

1. Aug '21 - Interest logged with a £5k Deposit. At the same time my indicative spec was submitted to the OPC, and an order form was created/generated (dual signed) with that spec. I was then told to wait to be notified of my allocation, and in that time I was told to work out what I wanted my final spec to be, before it would lock. Also advised that due to the parts shortages any big spec changes may delay my build.
4. Dec '21 - Allocation received the week before Xmas, full finance proposal done to secure the finance interest rate, spec lock date given to me as being end of January.
5. Jan '22 - Final spec submitted mid January, an updated order form was generated by the OPC with my final spec and costs, dual signed by both parties. Spec locked 2 weeks after I submitted my final spec.
6. Jul '22 - Mid July I took delivery of the car. On the morning of pick-up I transferred the balance (finance deposit minus my original deposit) of the ' finance deposit', lunchtime I arrived, signed the finance paperwork, got over excited about my new car, and drove it away.

Don’t forget the midnight collection of your soul. Once the cash deposit has cleared, it’s normally the 13th day of the following month. Don’t try to be ‘out’ either, if you’re not at home you’ll still be found. Make it easy on your family and send them away is best. It’s a good idea to book a domestic deep clean service for the next day as well.

Yes more than 1 car. No receipt recieved. Payment was done online. They dont dispute they have they money. Just no order form and no allocation!

I know some dealers have been placing spurious orders to obtain allocations for stock orders, soo i wonder whether my funds are being used for this!

Very odd!
I have deposits with 2 dealers and have paperwork from them both the same day.

If it were me I would be contacting the dealer in the next 5 minutes then !
I'm sure its fine but I always like a complete paperwork trail on any large purchase.

Not a problem. there is no set procedure and OPC's will run the system to their advantage, so my advice is to get an order form in & signed asap, to protect yourself against any price rises which occur across a specific MY (prices rises from MY to MY aren't protected). this is a particularly pertinent if you are ordering a car but waiting for an allocation. Your order can be amended as many times as you want before spec lock but best to try and only do it once due to supply chain issues.

Also if you are taking finance, you are only protected against rate rises if you have been fully proposed, but realistically you only want to do that once you are confident you are going to get a car as it's a credit score make proposal.

Good luck smile

Thanks for the replys. Decided to ask for my deposits back....funnily enough they said they had just recieved an allocation for one of the cars.

Will wait now as can only see the market one way, so will hold out for discounts on them!!

Glad resolved without issue for you - I think with the current waiting lists though I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting for that discount.
