If I were you I would keep schtum about previous years. The chance of HMRC ever finding out are slim to none.

Yes, you should adjust your SIPP contributions if your are likely to exceed the annual allowance, and you have no carry forward available to you.

DB Pension Input Amounts are a bit of a witchcraft; if I were you I would write to your pension administrator and ask for the PIA for the say, last 6 tax years.

I used to ask the pension administrator for the PIA every year.

Ask in good time because one year they responded at the last minute on 4th April so I wasn't able to do anything with the annual allowance.
