Daily driver replacement suggestions for my M2 Comp
Discussion
Hi All,
Having owned my M2 competition I am now on the hunt for a new daily driver. Whilst I have loved ownership over the last 3 years I have a new job which means I am doing a lot more miles and I want something a little more comfortable on the UK roads.
The two obvious choices for me would be the M440i and the M340i . Would anyone have any suggestions as an alternative to these cars as daily drivers? My budget would be around 65k-70K region.
The new M2 was an option however I just do not like the design at all and I don't imagine it will be that comfortable as a daily driver.
Thanks

That’s a joke I always thought it was like £500 lol.
We have a terraced house with an allocated parking bay which is owned by a property management company. 20 meter cable run with a fair amount of groundworks and the choice of only one contractor to do the work sadly means £££.Mr Tidy said:
I'm not sure how much more economical a 340i or 440i would be - I'd just keep the M2C!
The economy doesn't play a factor in my decision - I am looking for a car that will be better suited as a daily over the M2C that is more comfortable for longer journeys that is still fairly quick.CG2020UK said:
That could be an option yes - might see if I can test drive one!CG2020UK said:
This. All day long.I test drove a “regular” 2018 M5 the other week. You should 100% look at a facelifted one for your budget. The seats are very comfortable, the interior is nice, it’s reasonably quiet but allows some engine sound to be heard. I found the suspension to be reasonably firm even in comfort mode, but certainly not harsh or uncomfortable.
Very tempted to have one as my next car.

How many miles do you do?
65-70k you can get something more special than a 3 series with a big engine
My daily commute used to just be 3 miles each way - now I am looking at 8K-10K annually maybe a little more.65-70k you can get something more special than a 3 series with a big engine
8-10k miles per year is bugger all and your M2 is hardly a Caterham so don't really understand the problem TBH. I'd guess you are just a bit bored with it and looking for an excuse to change.
On the EV thing, for that kind of mileage you wouldn't need a dedicated EV charger, just access to a 3 pin plug socket. I'd avoid Tesla's though, they don't ride well IME. An i4 M50 would make a lot more sense if going that route and refinement is a key objective.

What areas of the M2 refinement aren't hight enoughfor yoi? Road noise could be reduced with sound deadening and suspension replaced with something softer. Exhaust could be quitenend too.
Another avenue consider.
I was thinking at one point of getting the Litchfield Nitron suspension kit but decided I would just like to move onto to something newer that has a better interior. Also wouldn't mind having adaptive cruise as an option as I tried that on another car and it was great for a long journey.Another avenue consider.

The route I take to work the roads are not great tbh which prob exaggerates the issue. I do change my cars every 3-4 years so I guess yes I am looking to change. I have not completely ruled out EVs as yet - if I went the EV route then the i4 M50 and the Audi Etron GT would be top of my list through my works salary sacrifice scheme. On the EV thing, for that kind of mileage you wouldn't need a dedicated EV charger, just access to a 3 pin plug socket.
