Empty grey boxes

Do I have a setting on my iPhone slightly ‘wrong’ to cause this? Almost every thread I look at has at least one of these. Most images shared by forum member appear ok as normal. Any ideas?

Isn't that where adverts go? How do you know what to spend your money on if you don't look at adverts?
