Oh, but there is. I was working on a seismic survey there a few years back. Nigeria is also another country, just up the road that has a large oil field. The oil companies seem to think it is out there. Nigeria, Gabon, P Republic of Congo all have big oil interests. (We worked out of Port gentil, Libreville, and Pointe Noire.)

Any one see the ex Narm vet that Fox News dragged out to slag off Jane Fonda.
He said he agreed with Jane Fonda’s anit Iraqi war campaign. They cut him off pretty quick and the anchor mad said to him “You’ll never appear on Fox again.

I know, we are so horrible. Wait...it's Africa, that bottomless pit we(and Europe) have been throwing money at for the last 30 plus years....on second thought, invasion might do them good....throw out the warlords, develop the oilfields and employ the locals, spinoff economies, etc.....exploitation, but the kind that benefits the natives too for a change; that will be new for them. Sounds sort of nasty? Welcome to the real world. Take care of your own and, in the process, do the best you can for others. IF YOU DON'T do that, emerging nations WILL and you will be left behind to "bitch" about it to those who care very much less than you....as they pass you by!

Give me the guy's name and maybe whose show he appeared on and if there is footage available I'll get it.

Best one I saw on RNN was when Bill O' Reilly got totally owned by this Iraq war vet's son (IIRC), Bill lost the plot and the guy wanted to continue the debate and all he could do was to repeatedly tell the guy to shutup. Classic.

Around mid July if I remember correctly. Sorry I don’t recall which show it was. The story focused on Jane Fonda organising some sort of cross-country bus tour to call for the US to withdraw its military from Iraq.

Fox put up some archive footage from her involvement in Vietnam. Then they interviewed the somewhat out spoken vet. He, in a rather forthright manner said that he supported Fonder's position.
It was obvious he was not responding the way Fox thought he would. At the end the interviewer said he would be appearing on Fox again.

The cynic in me also noticed that Jane Fonder was also promoting her new book "My Life So Far"

Let me see now, the Fox newscaster was masquerading as a journalist, the 'Nam vet was masquerading as a political pundit, Jane Fonda was masquerading as an autobiographical writer ... and all were appearing on a cable news network masquerading as a television broadcaster, while the programme itself was pretending to transmit real news that wasn't.

When GB used to 'own' most of the world we were made out to be monsters. Now everyone can look back and say we actually did a pretty good job. Yes we did make mistakes, yes we did end up killing people but no where near the scale of the things that have gone on since.

Now we have an American suggesting that yes, these people would be much better off if they were ruled by someone else. He is probably representive of most Americans view on this sort of matter. He is probably also right as lots of these countries are rife with racial tension, poverty and corruption.

The majority of people in these 3rd world countries probably couldn't care who ruled them as long as their lot is a better one.
