It won’t be a popular opinion, but good.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-647036...
I see the “brake” members are active on this type of post as usual.
There is no detail here as what is classed as “dangerous and excessive” and clearly these are on roads where there haven’t been serious accidents or deaths.
If it’s anything like it is around here, wide dual carriageways that have been 70mph for years without serious accidents or deaths, now reduced to 50mph for miles on end with some of it average speed camera enforced, and on the other parts, camera vans.
Have accidents and deaths reduced? No, of course not as there hadn’t been any for years.
Have journey times increased? Yes
Has revenue been raised by the cameras? Oh yes!
I will let you draw your own conclusions.

People need to go back to setting the camera's on fire.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-647036...
TX.
Good.
Speed matters etc and so many PH posters have multiple points.
Those two points are a huge concern. Why? A real lack of awareness and if someone's caught multiple times they really struggle and are sensory overloaded with multiple tasks.
The brake comments are interesting. Do you think we drive slowly?

If your name was LivinginBradford, you'd be rather supportive of this. There is no detail here as what is classed as “dangerous and excessive” and clearly these are on roads where there haven’t been serious accidents or deaths.

It's part of Operation Steerside, which is aimed at cracking down on the abysmal and lethal driving that is endemic in the city.
Luckily I wouldn’t live in Bradford if you paid me to !
And yes - if this is to target hooligans charging around like idiots then it’s a good thing, but speed cameras cant solve that alone - proper road traffic policing coupled with education and social unacceptability (like the drink drive campaigns of some years ago which made drink driving reduce dramatically by peer pressure) will be needed to tackle that.
I would imagine most of these people behaving like this will be on false / cloned plates or using pool cars - speed cameras won’t solve that either.

Comes back to this obsession with catching people speeding rather than slowing people down and reducing the risk.
Excessive speed is factor, cameras are so blunt, uninsured, non licenced, un roadworthy my experience has been its never been easier to have a dodgy car.
Same reason police don't like people warning to slow down, slowing cars down is not the end game.
Think about it having speed camera signs was supposed to make people slow down!
