Biden and Putin messages today

It's the first time I have actually started to get worried. They are both absolutely certain neither will stand down. I believe it has much opportunity to escalate. It seems the pace has increased just in the last week.

First time I have genuinely started to get concerned as to what the next weeks bring .

What world leader could act now to break this deadlock ?

It's difficult to say if there is anyone who could step in and say "calm down, calm down".
You have to wonder if Putin actually believes what he's saying and what percentage of the population believe him.
There again, if one wanted to be controversial, we're only getting one side of it.....
When you look back at history both recent and ancient, the are known as Ukraine has been invaded buy nearly every country from Turkey to Sweden. With the break up of the Soviet Union it tried to regain it's status as a stand alone country but Putin (apparently) wants to reunite the USSR and believes he and Russia can do that. Countries like Poland are worried that they'll be next.
