30 quid to insure a 997.So excited i danced
Discussion
My wife has been using a Fiat 500 Abarth during winter and i have been campaigning an X3 3.0. We own a 997 C2S that has had a garage holiday since September. I was paying around 500 to insure the X3 and about 400 to insure the Porsche with Carole Nash. I admit i was a bit lazy but thought the X3 was a bit pricey as that had my 100% no claims bonus on it. The Porsche was limited mileage to 3000 pa with a 750 excess.
I don't really use the internet and don't even own a computer other than my office one. I don't buy anything on-line and never tried go compare. I generally just ring up.
When renewal came up my wife suggested Martin Lewis's tip for LV being cheap. To cut a long story short i got the X£ fully comp for £320.00 with 150 excess and all the trimmings..
I was worried about Porsche because there was zero no claims left to offer. Idea came to me to see if LV would add the Porsche to my X3 for rest of term, during a conversation with Tracey who was "working from home" i held out very little hope of a cheap break for a 350 bhp complex and shiny sports car parked in a large city with inflation knocking at my door.
Finally Tracey pronounced i could add the Porsche under same terms, legal cover, windscreen, international breakdown, missus on too, (she's the main driver in terms of daily use). 150 excess for >>>30 quid!!<<<<. I was so stunned i nearly fell over. Then i danced.
She also said she would add it to the monthly payments ( £26.29 a month) now £29.16. I didn't even get my wallet out. Bonkers. I just insured my 911 for 30 quid. I didn't believe it until the tax went through. Talk about cheap motoring. I'm walking on air . Anybody else insured a 180mph car for 30 quid?.

LV= are very random - we use them for all our insurance but I stopped recommending them to people as the quote would either be great or insane, with no apparent rhyme or reason.
Wife's Tiguan has gone streadily up in cost - even in years where people were commented about premiums dropping - and last year it got ridiculous so I called and the girl almost whispered "try doing a new quote". It was £100 cheaper for a policy that looks identical.
Just renewed for this year and it's dropped 25% and I can't recall it ever going down on its own before - nothing has changed, was already full NCB etc.
They did handle a no-fault write-off of daughter's car a couple of years ago and I wasn't thrilled with the way they handled it or valued the car - they broke their own rules but I still feel we ended up short. In every no-fault claim we've put them they've always waived the excess though - I've read some insurers don't do that and just abandon their policyholders.

yeah, as they say. Proof is in Traceys pudding.
I've found that two different quotes with same info are often 100's of pounds apart, but why ihave zero clues. I have never made a claim on any policy in my whole life and yet my neighbours Subaru turbo nutter land sled with stickers was less to insure than my BMW X3 with Carole Nash!.
I'm 56 and he's 35 !!!!

Just got my renewal through with LV for my 2 vehicles, one being a 987 boxster. Both up 37% from last year, no details different either. Mustn’t want me as a customer anymore.
Try what they told me last year - get a new quote.I think this is a get around for the "mustn't quote existing customers more than new" rule now. They bring a new policy out every year so that breaks the link.
Just be careful there's nothing missing that you might rely on - DOC, or garage courtesy car cover etc.
It could just be they don't want you though.

There seems to be no reason to any of this. Carole Nash wouldn't reduce my quote based on the same info LV gave me a much lower price. I've been with Carol Nash for 25 years and never claimed or used their breakdown. Why do other companies provide a much lower quote for new less stable customers. Its got no logic.
Well done on the £30, I thought I’d done well with LV at £90 for my 987.
I’ve been with LV for the last 4 years now. I did have it 2 years ago that the multi car renewal with went up a fair bit, so before ringing them I ran the figures through meerkat and found that not only were 2 separate policies cheaper but also the cheapest ‘well known’ insurer was LV.
When I rang them to see if they could do anything about the renewal quote they just said no and told me to go with the meerkat quotes.
