550 sports exhaust. Which one ??
Discussion
I have sold my 355 with a tubi, and I am looking at a 550 maranello at the moment. I have seen some are advertised with Tubi or Larini systems. The standard car sounds so sanitised , I would want to fit a different system. Has anyone out there have experience of both systems, I would be interested to hear opinions
Thanks

Hi,
I was looking at 550's a while back but ended up with a 360 instead. I heard quite a few with Tubi's and have to say it's a must on that car.
If your doing lot's of miles and want it to be little bit louder then a stage 1 (back boxes only) but if your after the full on V12 howl then stage 2 or 3 (decat / straight through).

I have the same decision to make; spoke to Ajay at Scuderia and he recommended just the back-boxes, unless I was prepared to put up with huge amounts of noise by adding the unsilenced centre pipe as well.
Incidentally quite a big variation in price for the back-boxes (fitted) from the various agents.

Hmmm, Ajay didn't say anything about two different types of back box. Can you elaborate?? QV seemed the cheapest £1195+vat fitted. Anyone improve on that?? DK quoted £1050+vat but not fitted and reckoned it would be 4-6 hours fitting if you can believe that - taking the mickey or what!! Surely no more than 30 minutes work.
I spoke to Manu who was very helpful. The other backbox is louder but he said the drawback with this is a low rpm resonance that some people may dislike .
I for one will not do many miles , thus I would like it to sound nice. However if the noise is not a good one, then a being louder may may things worse. It would be good to hear 2 cars with the different systems to compare.

I'd like to hear that one day!
I have the Tubi pipes not boxes, it's pretty loud outside but not too intrusive in the cabin and as said previously the boxes apparently suffer from some resonance
I'm going to investigate some middle siamese pipe bits it's said it massively improves the sound and releases a considerable amount of horsepower

got the tubi pipe on mine and sounds fantastic!!! made it in to a different car. Sounds fine on motorway and so good in tunnels you will be constantly searching for one.
did quite a bit of research before getting mine and best option IMO. Very easy to swap just removal of back boxes and pipes put in place.
