Hi,

Trying to exercise my Porsche warranty rights to have headlights and rear view mirror replaced.
So far only managed to book my car in and "leave it for up to 2 days for an engineer to have a look at a [ridiculous per hour] rate"

Any opinion on what these defects are - do they look like structural and reasonable for the warranty to cover? Or am I being stupid.

Thanks!

That to me from the pics looks like headlights that have seen a lot of motorway miles and therefore peppered with minor chips/scratches and general weathering?

Not sure the OPC will replace under warranty but you can always try your luck.

Time for some 1200 grit paper and an orbital polisher. Mine are 15 years old and looked like yours. Now like new. But you do need to reapply a UV filter to prevent future yellowing.
And don't polish them on the car - the static generated can knacker the lightning module.

Looks like wear and tear and careless washing/polishing to me. If OPC are charging you just to look at them save your money

Cheers! Any more detail around how to do this? Particularly applying the UV filter. I have no idea!

An orbital polisher is what you need. I am just about to get on a plane but Google headlight restoration and there is loads on various forums. Easy job and lights end up looking like new.

This is the UV protector I used.

One sat does 2 lights. Reapply every 3-6 months. Wipe on and wipe off excess. Simple. And proven.

Yup, I'm having my driver side unit replaced at an eyewatering cost to myself. But I still don't know the cause. It looks like something has splashed on to it and dribbled down but the plastic itself looks eaten away partially through the material. Worried more about water leaking into the unit than the cosmetics but it's something that definitely won't polish out.
