Looking for a first car for a new, young driver (son)

Is a Fiesta Zetec 1.2 (81bhp) model any good or should I look for an Ecoboost 1.0 (100bhp?)

Looking at the previous shape, circa 2016/17

Bought my lad a 1.2 Zetec a year ago and it's been Bob on I wouldn't touch an ecoboom with a bargepole!

We got a MK6 Fiesta 1.25 zetec on an 08 plate for 2k a few years ago. Great little cars and perfect for a first car.

Bear in mind it’ll be reversed into lamp posts and filled with Mc Donald’s food cartons. No point going too posh.

The 1.25 engine is pretty bulletproof & the EcoBoom gets its name for a reason!

EcoBoost also needs cam belt at 10 years.

Wet belt, engine out job.

Expensive.

Get the 1.0. More power and torque.
