UPS - lost the plot
Discussion
Anyone else fed up with the ridiculous service UPS offer these days? I’m currently waiting for a parcel from them, had delivery notifications for Wednesday, Thursday and now again Friday - with little to no tracking information - just ‘we’re delivering today between 9:45 and 12:45’ then when that doesn’t materialise a Delay flag?
Also - every time i have a UPS delivery i’m spammed with phishing emails asking me to pay ‘import duty’ - clearly a scam as it’s IPS and the email is a student address - but suspicious that i get these just after a UPS delivery notification?
The likes of DPD are putting the old-school delivery companies to shame…

Upvote for DPD.
They make every other service look like an absolute s
tshow.
Agreed. They make every other service look like an absolute s
tshow.Plus, as a business, there is great satisfaction in replying to a customer that says "I been in all day mate, they haven't delivered, i want a refund NOW", with a picture of their door.
How DPD do it so well when FedEx, UPS, Yodel get it so wrong I don't know. In fairness Yodel are probably on a par with Hermes and RM/Parcel Force in that it seems to be disorganisation rather than the determined intention to not deliver that FedEx and UPS display.
I swear if DPD were in the middle of a warzone they would still deliver on time.

We ditched UPS a while ago after a multitude of cock-ups.
Their systems are atrocious, you can never get to speak to anyone, they have no idea how to handle a shipment either to or from an address outside of the UK, and when things do go wrong, it seems to take them weeks to get it sorted.
The straw which finally broke the camel's back was when they mis-delivered a parcel to an Amazon returns hub some 5 miles from the actual delivery address and then washed their hands of it. The parcel contained ~£4k's worth of goods - Amazon wouldn't release it to us (even though they knew it was ours), UPS went dark on us and we had to wait for over a month to get the shipment back.
Our local UPS driver can't be faulted, but even he recognises they've gone downhill and that customers are switching to other couriers in their droves.

Meanwhile our local Hermes / Evri lady, Post Office lady and FedEx guy are all excellent.
I think with all of these the service you receive depends a great deal on your local agent/driver. And because they change regularly you get fluctuating fortunes. Having said that DPDs systems seem about the best with pretty accurate tracking info so you have a pretty good idea where your driver is and how long they will be.
A couple of years ago out Hermes driver was great and at the time they were cheapest and we had loads of deliveries with no issues. UPS we always had a nightmare with, for some reason they didn’t seem to be able to find our property and always took 3-4 days longer than promised, luckily we only had a handful of their deliveries by each one had issues.
Now our Evri driver is hopeless, packages are thrown over a gate with no card saying they have been delivered, we don’t use this gate much so these can easily be missed for a day or two.🤬

Whereas the last time I used DPS to deliver me a set of P-Zeros for the XJ, they didn’t bother to ring the bell or open the gate, they just launched all four tyres over my 7ft high gates, narrowly missing one of the cars parked in the driveway.

That is an isolated incident and a view on the other services on a local level, not national.Meanwhile our local Hermes / Evri lady, Post Office lady and FedEx guy are all excellent.
Not to sound...billy big b
ks...but having sent tens of thousands of parcels all across the country, with a miniscule amount of issues....I will stand by DPD over any other service. I can't remember the last time DPD have been to blame for an issue. Gareth79 said:
UPS used to be easily the very best courier, although you had to pay a little extra, Parceline were easily the cheapest but worst, then they were bought by DPD who seem to have figured it all out.
This exactly. Previously, UPS were THE best. DPD have done am amazing job and are consistently good.
However, if I were sending a package outside Europe, I would probably try and use UPS as they have their own worldwide network, whereas DPD only really have Europe as far as I know.
