Indicator cancellation board
Discussion
Hi guys,
I need some help:
On this PCB there are 2 opto-couplers for left and right cancellation. One of them is broken (and that's what it really is - physically broken).
It's this one: Honeywell Proximity Sensor HOA2001-001 and you can see - it's discontinued.
Does anyone has some spare sensors for sale or at least an idea what other make/type could be used as a replacement?
Many thanks in advance!
Michael

RS is my usual go to - but it's a discontinued product

Same with Farnell

I had a quick look too and the only ones I could find were 5V powered which won't work with the 12V being supplied to the Cerbera indicator detection board - you can see the circuit diagram on my post here https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
eBay has:
Honeywell HOA6971-N51 Optoschmitt Sensor - Optic Switch
and
HOA6970-T51Transmissive Optoschmitt Sensor
both of which are 5V as far as I can see from the datasheets
Maybe give RS a call and ask them to try and locate one for you in their stock - they've been very helpful with me in the past when I need parts and tend to have some very knowledgable people on the other end of the phone to help
https://uk.rs-online.com/web/content/services/main...
The one thing to note is that you will need an Optoschmitt to give a LOW output when the sensor is not blocked, which is opposite of an optical sensor as per the datasheets point 2 below, because all of the TVR boxes are triggered on GND rather than Positive
Depending on how I get on with mine I might be building a replacement board but that would be some time away so this might be a quicker answer
HTH and good luck!

There's hundreds of this type of Opto switch out there, the difficulty is finding a direct replacement and sadly very few have the necessary internal 10k pull-up resistor fitted.
That said, it looks like the Optek OPB460T11 might be a good candidate for a replacement. There's another variant, the OPB462T11, which has the opposite polarity output. Data sheet is here: https://docs.rs-online.com/6bc7/0900766b8025c2fe.p...
Fixing centres and board footprint are identical, crucially all the pins have the same functions and are in the same locations but their positions are very, very marginally different, as is the optical centreline from the PCB surface. With a bit of manipulation these could easily be made to fit and work.
Most suppliers are out of stock but RS components have some, downside is you need to buy 25 @ £3.36 each. Ouch! You could ring them and see if they'll split up a pack, they normally sell them singly too but that option shows as no stock.
