Strangely my 98’ 986 is missing the two main decals as noted in the title. Why? No idea, maybe it’s been in a monumental accident and completely resprayed or one of the previous owners was a nincompoop and preferred the ‘clean’ look? We’ll never know but..

Where does one get them remanufactured? I have the under bonnet sticker replicated in my handbook and the door shut sticker is mainly the tyre pressures etc (not sure if VIN etc is on there?) so I have the information needed. I visited Cardiff OPC this morning and was met with a faintly dismissive “no sir we don’t do that here”

Is it worth ringing around other OPCs or just accepting that my car shall remain stickerless forever?

If you mean the one on the drivers B pillar under the door catch then yes it’s specific to your car and does indeed have the vin number on it.

You can get them from Carbone. Trouble is you need your old one to copy. Unless you can get a pic of one to copy from a fellow owner and add your vin instead.

The under bonnet ones can be copied but you can generally spot it if you know what you’re looking at.

To be honest if they’re missing, they’re missing. I wouldn’t be falsifying the history of the car. That’s just me though.

I fitted the one above to my C2 but only because I removed the original for paintwork (striker plate corrosion).
I photographed the original before removal though and documented it on my owners thread.

If it didn’t have one I wouldn’t be faking it.

Dealers most certainly can’t sort it.
No OPC will help with either the B pillar one or even more so the under bonnet one. They’re fitted at the factory. You simply can’t buy them unfortunately. (Or fortunately, if you’re a buyer who likes to see a genuine car with no tomfoolery going on. wink )

I see it more as reinstating rather than falsifying Mark. I have to original under bonnet info sticker so would be as came from the factory with the correct original information on it. For the door shut sticker there’s no information on there to falsify.

You’ve done the same thing as you said but had the original copied, that’s all i’d be doing.

Yeah, what I mean is there’s a reason they’re missing so there’s a story there somewhere. I’d just leave as is.
Unless you say to any buyers when you sell “Oh those decals were missing so I had copies made”. Otherwise it isn’t falsifying the cars info, but it is falsifying its originality.

But anyway that’s where you’ll get them. If Porsche parts guy above can get you genuine ones from an OPC then happy days, bite his hand off, but he’ll be the first person I’ve met who can because as I say they’re a “one time fit” and Porsche won’t help with “reinstating originality” on important decals or documents. That’s why if you buy a replacement service book it will have “Duplicate” stamped in the front, etc.

Yep, although I am no1 fanny, so I don’t mean to sound grouchy about it. That’s just how my brain thinks.

I’m speaking from experience though as I had a 964 Turbo right when values started to take off. It’s under bonnet sticker was missing and I too contemplated getting one made up.
I just thought what’s the point though, for the reasons I mention. The front tub was all original with paint code sticker in there and the factory finish, so it hadn’t had a big shunt if it had.

Things fall on cars all the time when parked in garages, etc.
Your B pillars may have already had paint for the door catch rust which all 986/996s do.

But anyway if you do want it looking right, speak to Carbone. thumbup
