Hi all,
QQ - we normally drive our Turbo S like Miss Daisy but last night, I managed to safely and legally get it up on higher Turbo boost. Once above half way on the readout, say 60/65%, it wavered up and down while still ‘pressing on’?

Almost inconsistent boost - not sure how to describe it without making noises frown

Didn’t appear to be a lack of power but two weeks ago, someone flashed to let me out into lane 4 on the M4 and despite kickdown being instant, there did appear to be an unhealthy delay in delivering power?

Any ideas? It is in soon for service etc so can get it checked but it just seemed weird.

Thx in advance for and help/replies etc

I’ve a 991.1 Turbo and twice I’ve had the boost pressure failing to get to the max when lit up - the car was still quick, but not as quick - boost was around 40% to 50%. In both cases it was the turbo actuator having failed - Porsche sent me.a video of it and it actually looked like it’s quite exposed on the underside. Both have been replaced under warranty (a year apart) and everything went back to normal.

Hope you get this fixed quickly.

It's not just 911s that have this issue. The 718 2.0 engine has a well know turbo actuator fault most probably caused by it being exposed to the elements.

This is interesting. My 17 plate turbo s , 12,000 miles seems very laggy say second gear 20 mile an hour full throttle takes a bit to get going then it’s off . Is that normal feeling or should it be instant thrown in back of your seat feeling . I’ve only had car since November . How would I know if it’s not right ? How can I check ?

Even in second at 20mph and zero boost, it should still have some grunt but nothing like the grunt you will get once the revs and boost build. If one forgets these are Turbos AND you just drive them normally, they’re still pretty quick but I wouldn’t say lightning fast! Putting your foot down to full throttle will stick it into 1st?

Press the ‘Hyperdrive’ button though and it is scary even from low speeds (but kicks down to 1st)

One man’s ‘bloody hell, that’s mental’ is another’s ‘is that it’ depending - so subjective!

When is it next due at OPC and is it under Warranty?

I leave mine on that display setting mostly but at 20mph in second, won’t there be Zero boost for a while which MAY be what’s being experienced here with the sluggish feeling?

I think it’s fine I drove it today in Scottish highlands, manual all day in sports plus and it was like st off a shovel , embarrassed a ferrrari f12 and his mate in a 599, was great fun though we had a good 10 mins chasing each other.

Quicksilver exhaust and decat being fitted Tuesday to sort the noise out

I’d appreciate your thoughts on the exhaust and de-cat.

It sounds amazing . The bangs ,crackles the shear volume of it . Sounds like a proper super car now .

Cons- drone is terrible as no resonantors, but on cruise control or gentle with throttle on the moterway you can avoid it .

- subjective but the cold start is that loud in my garage it hurts my ears and I know have to start it with garage door down so I don’t upset the neighbours 😂 you couldn’t have It parked in a street and it be that loud. Once cold start finishes it’s quiet on idle
