'Er indoors bought a new Kia Sportage ( petrol ) in Sep 2015, so now 7.5 years old. On 53K miles.

First issue we've had cropped up yesterday - headlight bulb packed in !

Can anyone top that ?!?!

2016 Hilux - 110k miles - often off road and often towing up to 3.5T.

Aside from oil and filter changes, it's had a set of tyres, a set of wiper blades and a set of front brake pads. Not needed a bulb yet!

My m140 is 7 years old 45k miles only thing to break was the window mechanism but coincidently a couple weeks after a van reversed into that door.
I bought used though so could have had issues in the first 4 years i suppose.

BMW 318d 2012 E91 - bought at 50,000 miles, now on 149,000 miles only needed oil and filter etc every 10k, tyres and pair of rear dampers and set of brakes in that time - think that's been good going personally.

Had a 2017 Astra from 2018 to 2022 and covered just over 100k miles, other than consumables it needed a suspension arm at about 50k miles, which was replaced under warranty, it also had a clutch under warranty at 25k but as a recall not a failure
Unfortunately at 120k miles it remembered it was diesel and the fuel injectors and DPF had got all full of carbon and needed a lot of repairs.
It was so reliable I’ve now got a petrol Astra, so hopefully it’s just as good, two months in and no issues.

It did need new headlight bulbs a few times over the years though.

Maybe not quite a BMW, but essentially a test mule for the oily bits of the fwd 1 series, I've put 60k miles on a Mini f56 One D. All it has needed are yearly oil and filter changes, tyres and brake pads. Had my first 'breakdown' last week, a slave cylinder and hydraulic pipe later all was good again. Hope to keep it till it falls apart. Its now on 100k and still going strong. Hope this post doesn't curse it!!

BMW 330Ci Coupe manual, bought new in 2001. Nothing at all went wrong until 2011 when at 120k miles, the thermostat failed. In 2014, one of the Xenon bulbs started failing so I replaced both. Then in 2015 the power steering pump failed while I was on my way back from a Prague which was the furthest point of my pre-Christmas tour. And in 2017, the alternator failed at about 200k miles. And then in 2018 the coolant expansion tank cracked at 210k miles, causing the car to overheat and wreck the engine. Dammit. That was the best car I ever owned. Or own, because I keep saying to myself that I will repair it. Maybe this summer.

Will that do, Bearman?

Elise 2011 and RAV4 2012. Both low miles, but still.
Morgan 2012 too, but not so trouble free.

They’ll be loads of cars 10 yrs+ with nothing but servicing.

Not too bad. I definitely think the German big 3 were better pre 2000, which is when your car was designed and prepared for building. But wrecking the engine at 210k is perhaps not hugely impressive. I have a 1.6 diesel 308 here on 260 odd with no big issues (clutch I think was the biggest one), and remarkably, a 1.0 C1 on nearly 200k - though I suppose that did need a new wheel bearing the other day.

Anyway, a 2001 330 Coupe must be worth having the head done? especially if it's in decent nick. Values must only be going one way?

My early-2012 Vauxhall Insignia V6 needed nothing other than consumables (tyres, brakes) until it was 10yrs old, when a headlamp and its associated self-levelling components failed, landing me with a £1k bill, although even that might have been due to a difficult-to-see stone chip/crack near the edge of the glass which possibly let water in.

I even kept £4k in cash savings to cover some or all of the 'inevitable' (according to the internet) 4wd or timing chain failure which never happened.
However, I did seek out a 2011-on car due to VX revising the chains and 4wd for the 2011 cars after problems with the 2009-10 cars.

I recently sold the car because, having owned the car for the last several years, I felt there were subtle signs here and there plus some comments by the mechanic at its recent MoT (passed), which gave me the feeling that age was beginning to catch up with it and that it was unlikely to remain trouble-free by the time the next MoT came round.

There's some rot on the rear arches, and I can't imagine a 210k mile car is ever going to be valuable, even if I do the engine. The suspension is way overdue a refresh. I figured I'd do it as a project to learn about overhauling an engine. I already own it, it doesn't run properly, and it's not as if I can make it worth less. May as well have a go. I imagine I'd probably want to do the M52 piston ring mod and the bottom end too, as it was using quite a bit of oil towards the end. I also have three other cars including a 1992 7-series, all of which run fine, so there's not a lot of necessity to get me to do it.

1996 BMW 328i. Water pump went kaput. And that's about it.

All fixed and it continues to be totally reliable.

By biz partners got a 3008 1.2 peugot, he missed the 1st 10k service by 1000miles and the engines just shat itself....apparently an exploding spark plug which looks like it could be "a thing!"...
Head office don't care and I've just seen a quote from his local Peugeot dealer for £4200 parts only plus labour....the warranty has been thrown out.....

Avoid like the black death!!!

Shock horror but my 2015 discovery 4 40,000 to 95,000 in 2.5 years only needed a compressor aside from regular services and lots of diesel!

Brothers 2006 2.4 Honda Accord Saloon. 160k from new, regular servicing, brakes etc always done. Not a single issue or breakdown. Never failed an MOT or even a blown bulb yet though he should really change the headlights as they are getting a bit dim!

If the plugs are not part of the 1oK mile service (and a I doubt they are) on what basis are they refusing the warranty claim?
